Before conception.

Talk to you significant other

This is always the number one step. Start a dialog. Now. TODAY. When you want to start trying? Any family medical history? How you want to raise your children? There are so many things that need to be discussed before bringing a child into the world. And to be honest there are so many ways to do it. Andrew and I had been discussing this for several months prior to trying. We discussed everything. When to have it, who will stay home, how we want to raise our child, finances, even throwing out a few names out there.

I can not express how important it is to talk to your other half about everything. Put it all out on the table and let it simmer. Most importantly know that having a child with someone is all about compromise. Well, Compromise and love.

Track your cycles

There are hundreds of apps out there that help with this. The average woman has a 28-da
cycle, beginning at day one of their menstruation, and finish on the day before their next period. In saying this I have a 30-day cycle. This is the first thing you should start doing as soon as you and your partner have started having the talk.

Just a few of the highest rated trackers.

As most women know menstruation is the shedding of the uterine lining. But did you know that during the Follicular stage (fertile) your uterine lining is thickened? During this stage, it is important to support your hormone production. This means filling your diet with things like; salmon, avocado, organic coconut oils, broccoli, nuts, and seeds.Estrogen levels are high so you should have lots of energy.the time after menstruation before you are at your most

The next stage is ovulation, where your ovaries are producing eggs.Right now your estrogen will be plummeting, and so will your energy. So at the moment, you will be needing foods high in estrogen such as; beans, alfalfa sprouts, sesame seeds, and dried fruits. You will be feeling sleepy but stay up and have as much sex as possible. This is your window so have fun.

The Luteal phase is the rest of the month pretty much. This is where the uterine lining continues to thicken before shedding again. This is normally the part where you have to wait before the pee sticks come out. Normally it’s the 10-day weight after ovulation that is the hardest part when you are trying for a baby. So do anything you can to keep your mind off it. Even keep having sex. What’s the worst that can happen? You get more practice.

Know your monthsbirth-month

Know what time of year you want to have your baby. But please remember that just because you have it all planned out doesn’t mean you will fall pregnant straight off the bat. For the lucky few it can work that way. But for the rest of us living on the planet earth just hold out. Keep trying. When it’s meant to happen it will happen.

Prenatal Vitamins

There are so many different types prenatal Vitamins on the market nowadays it can be hard to choose the right one. What do you look for? How much of what vitamins do you need? Why do you need them? Well I,  as a student nurse and woman trying to conceive, have taken it upon myself to find out. I did my research and got onto my
Vitamins as soon as I knew I wanted to have the baby talk with Andrew. The earlier you start taking your Vitamins the better for both you and the baby.9f80cc4a5a5e1fde1a866181df2eb03e-proc

Health Care Cover

Being an Australian, private health care is not overly necessary, however, it does help. Our medicare system provides us with low cost prescriptions and free public patient care in a public hospital. But if you have private health care in Australia or no matter the country you are living in, it would be a good time now to have a look and see what your plan covers. It may need updating if so do it now. Just get a better Idea of what you have, then add from there if required. If you’re not an Australian citizen or living elsewhere in the world. Find out what this next stage may cost you financially or what areas of care your private health care will cover.

Check up

When preparing to have a baby, we all want our baby to have the best, healthiest start to 8765.1335495065.237.235.2New-Imagelife. If you need to make any adjustments to your health now is the time to do it. Most GPs offer a ‘pre-conceptual‘ check up. This may also include DROPPING/GAINING any excess weight. If you have diabetes the GP can provide any information you may need to keep your BSLs in check during this time. This will be the case for any medications you are taking pre-baby making.

It is also important to make sure you are up to date with all your immunizations. When it comes to immunizations for rubella (where they inject you with the live virus) it will be safe to do this at least a month prior to conceiving. So the sooner the better. Unsure if you are up to date with your immunization? It can be as simple as a blood test. But again the sooner the better.

The dentist is also another must as many of the drugs they use when fixing you teeth may be dangerous to the baby. If you find out you are pregnant prior to a dentist check up PLEASE alert your dentist. Getting your teeth checked prior is also important as pregnancy can have a tendency to drain your calcium from your teeth.

Start savingUnknown

I think this is a given, but kids are really expensive. And that’s just the healthy ones. Be prepared for everything. The more money you can put away now the better off you will be in the long run. I think is is fairly common sense knowledge but starting a new budget now by putting the money you will be needing for the baby will give you a better idea of just how expensive they can be. Plus when you do have kids that money can be your rainy day fund, setting up the nursery fund, family holiday fund, college fund, etc. There are 100 ways that money will come in handy in the future. So seriously just START NOW.

Spend some quality time with your significant other

When the baby gets here it will be here for at least 18 years. That’s 18 years that your thumb_img_0404_1024-1husband/wife/boyfriend/girlfriend will come second. While it is just the two of you take some time out and just enjoy each other. Some people go on a babymoon either before they start trying or before the baby gets here. That’s what our USA-radventure was for us. This is a time for you and your significant other to really bond and truly show your love and appreciation before the chaos starts. This may also be the last time you are both truly alone for a very, very long time.

Start practicing

This is the best part. I’m not going to lie. Don’t get too caught up in the goal focus on the here and now. Enjoy the quality time while you can.

I hope this article has helped a few of you get some plans into motion before starting to conceive. Watch this space for more my beloved readers.
